Quito – Ecuador Trip 2015

We’d been planning a wildlife trip to South America for some time; first looking at Costa Rica, then at Panama, before settling on Ecuador – one of the most biodiverse places on the planet!

Country chosen, trip thoroughly planned and it was time to embark on our #holidayofalifetime adventure…After a 14 hour flight we finally arrived in Quito. I can vouch for the fact that all that travel takes it out of a person, so you can imagine how delighted we were to be greeted by our B&B host at the airport ready to drive us to our “new home”.Our stay at La Casa De La Gringa Guesthouse in Quito was lovely and it wasn’t long before we felt completely at home and part of the family. The service was excellent and the breakfasts were amazing. We really can’t recommend this wonderful B&B guesthouse enough!

We spent a few days relaxing and doing the tourist thing around Quito and on ourĀ first day exploring the city we were overwhelmed to catch sight of Hummingbirds. I suppose this isn’t a big deal to most, particularly our American cousins, but for those of us on the other side of the Atlantic I can assure you, it’s a biggy.

We stayed 3 days in Quito and then pinched ourselves as we flew to Galapagos.
