Sir Stirling Moss a legend in F1, born 17th September 1929, began his F1 career in 1951 and ended in 1961 in which time he won 66 races including 16 Grand Prix wins, and had 24 podium finishes.
He raced with many teams including Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, Vanwall, Rob Walker, Cooper and Lotus.
Mercedes Benz returned to Formula One racing at the French Grand Prix at Rheims in 1954 racing three of its Silver Arrow cars.
Aerodynamic and elegant, the cars were unlike anything seen before and took first and second prize with Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling at the wheel.
Mercedes Benz retired from F1 once more in 1955 after winning the Italian Grand Prix at Monza with the Silver Arrow.
